Poldark star Aidan Turner says he usually can't stand watching himself on TV, although he will watch the new series which begins on September 4 on BBC One.

"I'm generally not good at watching myself," says the 33-year old Dublin actor, as reported by Digital Spy. "And I can think of nothing worse than watching it with other people. I'll be watching this series on my own. I'm usually not good at watching it when it comes out, because I know other people are watching it at the same time. The cringe factor's too much, I can't deal with it."

This second series was filmed in the winter unlike the first year's summer shoot. Stormy Cornwall weather meant that intense scenes were diificult to perform as gales blew wildly. Turner revealed that he and his co-stars were sometimes unable to hear each other speaking.

"You're right in their face and you can't hear what they're saying. So what do you do? Do you raise the level so you're shouting at the person, or do just concede that you'll have to fix it in the studio? That's kind of sad, because you lose the emotion... and it's usually quite an emotional scene if we take it to the beach, or the side of the cliffs."

Turner and co-star Eleanor Tomlinson (Demelza) would squeeze each other's hands as signals for dialogue to resume between them, presumably when the wind briefly let up its howling.

"You still have to try and keep that emotion and not make it look like it's some crappy panto,"  declares Turner.
