Paloma Faith has announced that she's "delighted" to be expecting her first child, adding that she's spent her whole life longing to be a mother.

Back in March, the English singer referred to her long-term boyfriend Leyman Lahcine as her "husband", and said that she'd wanted a baby since she was 27. She's now 35.

"So the good news is my 4th album is well underway and I am very excited about it. It's actually nearly finished as I type!" she wrote today on her website.

"I have been working with the amazing Jesse Shatkin on it as producer and it has been a real honour. It is called The Architect and is very aptly named as it leads me on to my next announcement.

"I am also delighted to tell you I am going to take a short while off to have a baby. I have spent my whole life wanting to be a mother and how the time has come for me to do so. I feel so lucky."

The English singer added that her pregnancy means that she won't be returning as a coach on The UK Voice or releasing that new album any time soon.

"This means I won't be involved in The Voice this year or releasing my album this year either," she wrote, before adding that she wants her child to have a normal life out of the public eye.
