Jonah Hill has become the latest Hollywood actor to sign up to star in a Netflix series.
The 32 year old will join Emma Stone in a dark comedy called Maniac, which is based on an original Norwegian series. The plot centres on a man in a mental institution, who escapes to reality to a fantasy world in his mind.
The series is ten parts in length, and will be directed by True Detective’s Cary Fukunaga.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Hill admitted he knows little about the original series. "I haven't started to go deep on that yet because Cary Fukunaga just hired the writer that's going to write the series," he said.
“Cary's a filmmaker I really want to work with - and working with Emma again... that's a very attractive thing to be part of."
Hill and Stone previously starred together in hit comedy Superbad, which was released in 2007. The pair will also work as executive producers on the series.
"Writing and directing is the ultimate expression of [creative control]," Hill added. "That's where I want to put a lot of my time and effort into. Being a director is the only true way to control what ends up on the screen."
