Jamie Dornan isn't in a hurry to wrap up his role as a serial killer in The Fall, saying the job "changed his life".

The Northern Irish star is returning as Paul Spector for series three of the popular BBC crime drama series this autumn, and it looks like Dornan would like to continue playing the character indefinitely.

Speaking at a press conference, the 34-year-old actor said: "They're like family to me and I'm forever grateful for it to be a part of my life and, you know, I would play that character to my dying days if I had the opportunity."

The Fifty Shades of Grey star went on to tease the upcoming series, saying: "You can expect the unexpected.

"There's quite remarkable turns in the third season that I really genuinely think people won't see coming that are hugely exciting."

He stars alongside Gillian Anderson in the series, which is filmed and set in Northern Ireland. At the end of season two, Spector had been shot by Jimmy Tyler (Brian Milligan), but it looks like he must be alive and well for the third outing.

Armagh-born actor Colin Morgan will also be reprising his role as DS Tom Anderson in the series, alongside Valene Kane as Rose Stagg, a survivor of an attack by Spector.

Dornan had a high-profile modelling career before making the move into acting, making his debut in Sofia Coppola's 2006 film Marie Antoinette.
