One Foot in the Grave star Richard Wilson is in a stable condition in hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The 80-year-old's agent, John Grant, told British newspaper The Guardian that Wilson had a cardiac arrest on Wednesday afternoon.
The Scottish star had been due to bring his iconic One Foot in the Grave character Victor Meldrew to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in a one-man show called I Don't Believe It! An Evening with Victor Meldrew. The 12 shows were due to begin on August 16 but have now been cancelled.
Wilson played Meldrew in the BBC sitcom between 1990 and 2000, winning two BAFTAs for his performance. The character was killed off in 2000 but came back as a ghost in a Comic Relief sketch in 2001.
Stage and screen veteran Wilson's many other credits include Merlin, New Tricks, Doctor Who, Only When I Laugh and Crown Court.
