It is reported that Mrs Brown's Boys' Brendan O'Carroll has teamed up with the man behind another no-nonsense matriarch, Madea creator Tyler Perry, to see if they can bring their two characters together on the big screen.
Writer, actor and director Perry is one of the biggest stars in the US with two of his shows, soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots and sitcom Love Thy Neighbour, screened on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

His most famous creation is box office hit Mabel 'Madea' Simmons, a jailbird who makes Mrs Brown look like a charm school graduate. While Mrs Brown married just the once, former wrestler Madea has buried nine husbands - and cashed in on the insurance policies every time. The eighth movie in the Madea series, Boo! A Madea Halloween, is released in October.
"Tyler is a fantastic writer and performer," O'Carroll told The Sun. "We are exploring what a movie would look like with both Mrs Brown and Madea and we are laughing a lot."
Perry said the thought of working with O'Carroll made him feel "beyond excited". "And the thought of Mrs Brown meeting Madea... hysterical!" he added.
Earlier this month, O'Carroll told The Sun that while the plot was ready to go, the follow-up to 2014's Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie had been delayed because the fall in sterling after the Brexit result had impacted on the film's planned budget.
Perry is among the stars of Irish director Gerard Barrett's upcoming film Brain on Fire. The drama, which is based on the memoir of the same name by Susannah Cahalan, tells the story of Cahalan's (played by Chloë Grace Moretz) battle with encephalitis.
