In what would be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious casting, Meryl Streep is the latest name to be mentioned in connection with the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel.

Emily Blunt has already been been cast to star as the magical nanny with American actor Lin-Manuel Miranda set to play a street lamplighter named Jack and now Vanity Fair reports that three-time Oscar winner Streep is in talks to play Mary's cousin Topsy, a new character in the Disney update, Mary Poppins Returns.

The new movie, which is being directed by Pirates of The Caribbean helmer Rob Marshall,  is set in Depression-era London, and sees Mary make a return visit to the now grown up Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael's three children.

Using her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.
