Aidan Turner has refused to comment on speculation that he could be the next James Bond, as it could jinx his chances of landing the "hugely coveted" role.
The Dublin-born actor is currently bookies' favourite to replace Daniel Craig as the suave British agent, with Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and James Norton also reportedly in the running.
The 33-year-old Poldark actor declined to talk about potentially landing the part, telling The Mirror: "I'd rather not say anything. It seems like it's the Judas kiss - once you comment on it, it disappears. It's hugely coveted. Let's see how it goes."
Turner sent hearts racing all around the world after a topless scything scene in Poldark which displayed his razor-sharp abs.

Turner has now revealed that he only has himself to blame for becoming an instant sex symbol following the scene, as it was his idea to go topless.
"It was my idea to take my top off," he admitted.
"It was probably a huge mistake. But Poldark's out in the fields, it's a really hot day, there's a lot of work and it wouldn't have made sense with a top on.
"It was never supposed to be sexually provocative.
"So when the show came out and it all kicked off, I was a bit surprised. But it kind of put the show on the map."
The long-awaited second season of Poldark returns to BBC One with ten episodes from September 4.
