Bernie Sanders supporter Danny DeVito - currently promoting the Todd Solondz-directed movie, Wiener-Dog - expresses contempt for Democrats and Republicans alike.

DeVito - who starred in one of Sanders' campaign ads  -  expresses despondency about America in an interview in today's Guardian.

“Everything is bought and sold here, including our duopoly,” he declares.“We have two parties, the Democrats and the Republicans, and they’re both the same. Our Congress, our House of Representatives and our Senate, everything is sewed up. They’re paid by lobbyists, so it’s all about money.”

DeVito has an unsurprising aversion to Hillary Clinton while he describes Republican candidate Donald Trump as “horrendous and shameful”.

“(We) can’t let that happen, " he says when asked about a possible Trump presidency. "Can’t have that xenophobia and building walls and kicking everybody out. Do everything you can to make sure that Donald Trump doesn’t become president."

In Wiener-Dog, a lovable dachshund puppy is passed from one eccentric owner to the next, including two couples, a veterinary nurse, played by Greta Gerwig, a screenwriter played by DeVito and a disillusioned woman played by Ellen Burstyn.
