Former Top Gear host Chris Evans will face no further investigation into an allegation he sexually assaulted a woman in the 1990s.
The allegation was made to police in London back in May and yesterday Evans was interviewed by members of the force. The London Metropolitan police said that officers from the sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse command investigated and a man in his 50s was interviewed under caution on Thursday.
However, police say there was "insufficient evidence to proceed". A spokesman for Evans also confirmed that the case had now been dropped.
In a statement released yesterday, it said, "The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the complaint has been investigated, but it fails to meet the evidential test to warrant any further action. Case is dropped."

Earlier this month Evans announced his departure from the revamped Top Gear after just one season of fronting the motoring show saying he had given it his "best shot".
His decision to leave came after disappointing ratings for the show, with just 1.9 million people tuned in for the sixth and final episode, considerably lower than anything during the Jeremy Clarkson era.
