James Corden's popular Carpool Karaoke segment from his CBS' Late Late Show will be made into a 16-part standalone series to be released on Apple Music.

Corden and his production partner Ben Winston, who co-created the item in which Corden is joined by celebrities to sing in a car, will executive produce the series, but it is likely Corden will be replaced in the driver seat by a new host.

The item has seen the likes of Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber and even the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama, join Corden in his car for a chat and sing-along, and the new series will follow the same format.

Carpool Karaoke will still remain as a sketch on Corden's Late Late Show so even if he doesn't take up hosting duties for the new series, fans won't miss out.

Fancy re-living some of the Carpool Karaoke highlights? Here are our top 5 instalments:

5. Jason Derulo

Jason Derulo wouldn't be an obvious choice for a top five when you know the likes of Elton John, One Direction and Rod Stewart have all been on board at one time or another, but this episode was full of surprises and just works.

4. Justin Bieber

Bieber has helped James Corden get to work more than any other celeb and it's the bromance between the two that makes every visit quality viewing. From style advice and clothes swapping to dance lessons and matching tuxedos, you're guaranteed a few laughs with the Biebs.

3. Red Hot Chili Peppers

This one was always going to be mad, but it was the moment the wrestling began that cemented it into the Carpool Karaoke Hall of Fame.

2. Stevie Wonder

When you get a legend like Stevie in the car to belt out some of his tunes, there's just no way it can go wrong. The moment when he calls Corden's wife is just the cutest.

1. Adele

Rapping, the Spice Girls, tea. Adele wins. It's also the most-viewed Carpool clip on YouTube with over 119 million clicks so far.
