Lady Gaga has broken her silence following reports that she had split from fiancé Taylor Kinney, saying they are "taking a break" and that they still "really love each other."
The 30-year-old Bad Romance singer took to Instagram to address the reports that they had called time on their five year relationship saying they believe they are soulmates.
"Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break," Gaga captioned an image of the couple walking arm in arm.
"We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
The pair met back in 2011 on the set of her music video, Yoü And I, in which the Chicago Fire actor flaunts his shirtless physique as her love interest.
Gaga and Taylor began dating a few months after shooting the music video in Nebraska, in which the singer ironically wore her mother’s wedding dress. The couple did briefly split in May 2012, but rekindled their romance a month later.
Kinney popped the question to Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, on Valentine's Day 2015 with a love heart-shaped ring. At the time he told Chicago Tribune magazine that he had no hesitation about getting down on one knee.
"It was in Manhattan. It was snowing – it was beautiful," he said of the proposal. "I just knew. It wasn't a light bulb going off."
GaGa shared a picture of the ring on Instagram, with the caption: "He gave me his heart on Valentine's Day, and I said YES!" she wrote.
Gaga was recently snapped in Cabo, Mexico without her engagement ring on, further fuelling rumours that the pair are no longer together.
