Shooter, the new action series starring Ryan Phillippe, has been postponed again after the fatal shootings of three police officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday.

The USA Network had been due to premiere Shooter on July 19. The series was then delayed until July 27 following the killing of five police officers in Dallas, Texas earlier this month. The officers were shot during a demonstration which followed the fatal police shootings of two African-American men in Baton Rouge and St Paul, Minnesota.

Now the series has been postponed until at least the autumn, with a source telling entertainment industry website Indiewire that November would be the earliest premiere date as the USA Network does not want to debut the series during the US Presidential campaign.

Ryan Phillippe as Bob Lee Swagger in Shooter

Shooter tells the story of a former US Marine sniper who comes out of retirement after a plot to kill the President is discovered.

It is based on the 2007 Mark Wahlberg-starring film of the same name with Wahlberg serving as executive producer.

Indiewire says the series' title may change before its premiere, with Stephen Hunter's source novel Point of Impact a possible alternative.
