Cliff Richard has threatened to sue the BBC and South Yorkshire police as a result of an investigation into allegations of historic sexual abuse.
The singer is said to be considering legal action after the British state media network ran a live broadcast of a raid of his home by the force's officers.
Richards' lawyers have sent letters to both the BBC and South Yorkshire police warning that he intends to sue for "misuse of private information".
According to the veteran musician, police and journalists "unlawfully colluded" to invade his privacy during the 2014 investigation into allegations that he was involved in sexual abuse.
The letters, which were sent last Friday, say the BBC and the police caused him "unnecessary damage" by agreeing permission to film the raid, and the damage was described as "foreseeable and unjustified".
The investigation was later dropped, while the BBC came in for criticism for their coverage of the raid. According to Mail On Sunday, Cliff Richard will be looking for compensation of £1 million for damages and costs.
