Star Wars actor Mark Hamill is among those who have paid tribute to original Lois Lane actress Noel Neill, who has died at the age of 95.
Although she had roles in over one hundred movies during her career, she is best remembered for role as the legendary Daily Planet journalist in particular alongside George Reeves in the title role as Superman.
Neill first featured in the film serials Superman (1948) and Atom Man vs Superman (1950), and then went on to play Lois Lane in the 1950s' television series Adventures of Superman, but also had smaller roles in later Superman-related projects.
She was said to have been devastated by the apparent suicide of George Reeves who played the Man of Steel in the 1950s TV series and subsequently retired from acting.

However in more recent decades she was rediscovered by fans after she played Lois Lane’s mother in the 1978 Christopher Reeve Superman, and also had roles in TV series such as Superboy, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman; and also made a brief appearance in the 2006 film Superman Returns.
There's even a statue of Lois Lane in her likeness in the town of Metropolis, Illinois.
