Rihanna had Irish fans worried during her gig at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Tuesday night after arriving 30 minutes late and then crying onstage.

The 28-year-old Barbadian singer appeared visibly upset at the beginning of her show and broke down in tears as she performed her second track, Love the Way You Lie.

Rihanna offered no explanation for her late arrival or her tears and continued her ANTI World Tour by belting out a total of 24 tunes.

She took a moment during the show to praise her Irish fans, saying: "I only have ever in my life heard an audience of people scream so loud that they sound like one voice and that only happens in Ireland, in Dublin... Thank you so much."

Concerned fans flocked to social media to express their concern:

Whatever her upset at least she had a firm shoulder to cry on. UFC champion Conor McGregor took a well-deserved night off  to head to the Rihanna concert and was spotted backstage hanging out with RiRi who looked in great form posing with him.

Following her Dublin gig Rihanna took to Instagram to thank her fans for all of their support and admitted it had been an emotional night.

The singer shared a short video of her performing on stage at the Aviva with the sweet caption, "What a night!!!! Such an emotional show for me! I feel so lucky to have a team like the #Navy man! I'm blessed!! No matter what I'm on you always snatch me out of it! I'm so grateful to have y'all! ⚓⚓⚓ #DUBLIN#ANTIWORLDTOUR."
