Disney has donated $1 million to the OneOrlando fund, which has been set up to support the victims of last Sunday's Orlando club shootings.
Disney World resort is located in Orlando and one of the 49 victims, Jerry Wright, was an employee of the company. Jerry had gone to the Pulse nightclub to celebrate the 21st birthday of his friend Cory Connell, who was also killed in the shooting
The entertainment company said its pledge will help to support the families of the victims, as well as helping the 53 people who were injured in the attack at Pulse, by lone gunman Omar Mateen.
Disney also announced that it will match pledges from individual members of its staff.
Disney's Bop Chapek announcing the donation
Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, released a statement saying: "We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act.
"With 74,000 cast members (employees) who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones."
Their announcement came following a shocking incident at the resort after a two year old boy was dragged away by an alligator in front of his family. The boy was playing at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa when the attack took place.
