Release date for new Narcos - TV's most addictive drama

Arguably one of the best things Netlix has ever produced, Narcos, the true - and often unbelieveable - story of Columbia’s most infamously violent and powerful drug baron Pablo Escobar is back for a second season in the Autumn.

The gritty drama series, starring Wagner Moura, as one of the wealthiest criminals in history, was a huge hit for the streaming service when it launched last year. The good news for fans is that a new ten-episode season of Narcos was confirmed today and will be available to stream for Irish viewers on September 2.

While we'd never commend binge and cocaine as an activity in the same sentence, it's worth making an exception in this case. Told in a very Goodfellas-esque style, complete with voice over narration from DEA agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), the first season brought an epic story arc to Escobar's rise as the undisputed 'King of Cocaine' and Colombia's illegal drug trade.

Intercut with archival footage the series managed to show both sides of his lucrative narcotic empire and it's violent repercussions, while also carefully peeling back the brazen-ness and growing braggadocio of Escboar's tightening grip of menace over the country.

As a true story it's all fairly mind-boggling stuff but as a TV drama it's also dangerously addictive - check out season one if you haven't yet.
