Comedian Bernard Casey has hilariously sent up the dilemma faced by Leaving Cert Irish students who were bamboozled by the Donegal Gaeilge in their aural exam earlier this week.
Many students complained that the unfamiliar Donegal blas was barely comprehensible as they listened to the tape.
Bernard's video on the difference between the Kerry and Donegal dialect has gone viral with over 700,000 views so far on Facebook.

He starts of his 'Leaving Cert Irish Listening Test' by perfectly mimicing the instructions to students including the audio beep and that refrain which is bound to bring back cold sweats for thousands of people who've sat the exam:
"Léigh anois go cúramach, ar do scrúdpháipéar, na treoracha agus na ceisteanna a ghabhann le Cuid A."
He then launches into a snappy telephone conversation between two speakers of Kerry Irish, one of whom was won €5 million in the Lotto. So far so comprehensible.
He then begins part B of the aural exam except this time, the speakers are fluent in Donegal Irish. It all quickly turns into fast-flowing gibberish and the results are an-greannmhar ar fad. Maith thú!
