There had been much speculation that new material from the quartet would be released this week when details of a song called Beautiful Thing appeared on music copyright site PPL on Wednesday.
Beautiful Thing's release follows the unveiling of All for One last month.
The Stone Roses will play Dublin's Marlay Park on Saturday July 9. Earlier this week, fans gave the thumbs up to the band’s warm-up show at Halifax's Victoria Theatre in the UK.
The show received a universally positive reaction from fans on social media. Many of the 1,500 fans at the gig took to Twitter and described the show as "mind-blowing", "rocking", "amazing" and "huge".
