The Conjuring 2 star Patrick Wilson has told TEN that playing the role of real-life paranormal investigator Ed Warren has taught him that he's "ok with the unexplained".

The sequel to director James Wan's 2013 box office hit, The Conjuring 2 finds Ed Warren and wife Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) travelling to London in 1977 to investigate the infamous 'Enfield Poltergeist' case.

No one's giving up the ghost here

"We shot at a house a couple of streets over because they have redone that council house - the actual address," Wilson explained. "Also, we didn't want to knock on their door like, 'Hi! We're from Hollywood!' - it'd just be rude. Whether they [the new residents] know the history of the house - maybe they do, maybe they don't - I would imagine they do. We just sort of looked from afar and did not go in."

Asked if he had felt anything strange in the area around the Enfield house, the Fargo actor replied: "No, but I wasn't looking for it either. I think a lot of this - and I don't mean this in a snarky way - is if you think you're never going to see a ghost or you never want to deal with anything, there's a good shot you won't."

The Conjuring 2 is in cinemas from Monday June 13

Wilson added, however, that he thinks the experience of starring in both The Conjuring and Insidious movies has stood him in good supernatural stead.

"I feel like if I were to come across a ghost in my future I wouldn't be [scared]," he laughed. "I don't even know if I was scared before. Certainly, living in this 'world' a lot, reading a lot about it, it's doesn't really scare me; it fascinates me. I think maybe that's grown from doing it, from reading so much about it."
