Stone Roses fans have given the thumbs up to the band’s warm-up show in England last night, ahead of their highly anticipated comeback gigs, including a gig at Marlay Park in July.

The band played their comeback single All For One live for the first time at the gig at Halifax’s Victoria Theatre in a concert that also saw the return of Begging You, a track from their second album The Second Coming, to the set for the first time since they reformed in 2012.

The show received a universally positive reaction from fans on social media. Many of the 1,500 fans at the gig took to Twitter and described the show "mind-blowing", "rocking", "amazing" and "huge".

According to an NME report, drummer Reni told a fan before the Halifax show that there would "100%" be new Roses songs in addition to All For One, which he said were sounding "beautiful".

The second of the two advertised warm-up gigs is at the 1,400-capacity Carlisle Sands tonight. After that the band will prepare to play their four shows at Manchester Etihad Stadium, while Irish fans are counting down the days until their appearance at Marlay Park in Dublin on July 9.

The gig will be the Roses fist time to play in Ireland since performing open air shows in Dublin and Belfast four years ago.
