Irish star Sharon Horgan was honoured with the Trailblazer award at the annual Glamour magazine Women of the Year event in London on Tuesday night.

The star-studded gathering, held in a specially built marquee in Mayfair's Berkeley Square, saw famous names from the world of entertainment recognised at the event hosted by Claudia Winkleman.

More than 700,000 votes were cast for the awards, which are in their 13th year, and include categories ranging from sportswoman to Glamour Icon.

Kicking off the awards, Winkleman told the packed venue that the event is "better than Christmas".

"These awards are not chosen by four thin people staring at a biscuit, these are actual voted for by humans," she said. "If you win it means you are amazing and you are the best."

Actress, writer, director and producer Sharon Horgan, best known for her work on comedy series Catastrophe, was announced as the winner of the Trailblazer award at the ceremony.
