Disney has ordered re-shoots for the upcoming Star Wars spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story because executives are reportedly "not fully satisfied" with the first cut.

The first cut of the film, which is being directed by Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards, was recently shown to film executives and according to a number of reports they were not satisfied with the end product.

"Disney won't take a back seat, and is demanding changes as the movie isn't testing well," a source told news site, Page Six.

Re-shoots are not uncommon and a source from Disney added, "The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting.

"Coming off The Force Awakens, there's an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can."

Felicity Jones in Rogue One

Rogue One focuses on a plot to steal the plans for the Death Star and it is rumoured that Alden Ehrenreich (who recently impressed critics in the Coen Brothers' Hail, Caesar!) will make his first appearance as the young Han Solo in the film. All will be revealed when the movie hits Irish cinemas this December.

Meanwhile, while filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII has concluded in Donegal and the South-West, the cast and crew took out an advertisement in local newspapers to thank the locals for the warm welcome they received - and as a nice touch they even added in a bit of Gaeilge!

The Disney/Lucasfilm message to locals signs off, "Go mbeidh an forsa leat!! - May the force be with you!!"
