Tom Jones is preparing to perform his first concerts since the passing of his wife Linda.

Speaking to the Mirror, the singer told of the “tough few months” since the death of his wife as he prepares to perform again, after she passed away following a “fierce” battle with cancer back in April.

The 75-year-old was married to Linda - full name sweetheart Lady Melinda Rose Woodward - for 59 years, and was at her bedside when she passed away.  They were childhood sweethearts.

He said, “I’m feeling pretty good now. I’m back in it and getting back in form”, “It’s been a tough few months, losing Linda. She had emphysema, and we thought that’s all it was. But it turned out to be worse than that in the end”.

He also revealed in a new autobiography written before his wife’s death, that he wouldn’t be able to continue singing “if something happened to her”, but also acknowledged that it was her wish for him to continue performing after she had passed.

Tom also said that “singing is what I do. I’m a singer and I love to sing. I have to be strong. I was wondering if I could use that love as strength, and it was”.

“(Linda) wanted me to go on and keep singing, she said not to stop. She was a strong woman and was always there. It was a wonderful feeling to have known someone like that all my life.”

The Welshman is set to perform for the first time since his wife’s death on June 8 as he prepares his comeback following the tragedy, with a full tour set to follow.
