Elton John has confirmed that he will make an appearance in the upcoming sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service.
The musician shared an image on Instagram of a poster for Kingsman: The Golden Circle that says, "Wednesday night's alright for fighting" beside a pair of his star-shaped blue, white and red glasses.
The caption reads, "It's been a long time since Tommy... #Kingsman"
Details of the Rocket Man's role have yet to be released, but last year director Matthew Goldman told ABC New Radio he wanted the Grammy winner to appear in the first Kingsman movie for "an action scene of Elton John kicking the living daylights out of people.”
Colin Firth and Taron Egerton in Kingsman: The Secret Service
The original film, which starred Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, and Taron Egerton, earned more than $35 million (€31 million) when it opened in February 2015 against competition from Fifty Shades of Grey. It went on to make $415 million (€368 million) worldwide.
The sequel will further chronicle the exploits of Taron's character Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin, an erstwhile London hooligan who has been trained in the art of heroics by a secret spy organisation. Eggsy and Merlin (Mark Strong) are expected to join forces with their American counterpart, Statesman, for the follow-up.
Channing Tatum and Julianne Moore recently joined the cast, with Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal and Halle Berry also set to star.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is slated for release on June 16, 2017.
