Sin City actress Rosario Dawson says while she didn't know her Irish biological father she still gets whimsical feelings every time she visits Ireland.

The 37-year-old New York born star, who has visited Dublin twice before, revealed she is looking forward to having fun and going out dancing before she returns home on Wednesday.

"It's been way too long. The city is so much more modern than I remember. We are going to go out dancing and listen to some live music and have some fun," Dawson told TEN.

"It's nice visiting here. Maybe it's just a whimsical thing for me but my biological father is Irish. I didn't know him or have that experience of what that [being Irish] meant to him but I think there is a kind of whimsical thing when I'm here, and listening to the music, and feeling like it's doing something to my blood and my spirit. I feel connected to it. It's good for the spirit," she added.

Dawson, who was in town for Budweiser's Dream Big campaign, revealed she was planning on becoming a marine biologist before her acting career took off by chance.

"I started acting when I was fifteen. It wasn't even something that I was aspiring to do. I was discovered. I thought I was going to be a marine biologist or civil engineer or something like that," she said.

"For me it was interesting because I ended up looking back on things I had written when I was even younger and talking about how I want to be a performer and entertainer and a movie star. But I never really thought about those kind of things until after I started acting."

Dawson, whose successful career spans over two decades and includes roles in Daredevil, Trance and Sin City, says she feels extremely fortunate for how her career started.

"I just feel so lucky that I got that opportunity and that it just kind of came to me. It almost actually reawakened my dreams and aspirations. For so many years I thought this was so nice and I'm so lucky to have gotten this far but at some point I'm going to have to get a real job and go back to school. The fact that twenty one years later I'm still able to do this is pretty remarkable," Dawson added.

Dawson currently portrays Claire Temple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently in two of the Marvel Studios/Netflix series, Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
