First Dates couple Katie and Ciaran have revealed that they plan to "keep in touch" after a few successful dates, despite Katie relocating to Toronto.

Irish dancer Katie and interior designer Ciaran appeared on The Ryan Tubridy Show on 2fm on Friday morning to talk about their First Dates experience.

Ciaran came across as painfully shy during their first date, but he told Ryan that it really wasn't as bad as it appeared.

"I'm a little shy on dates normally so I think being on the show heightened this tenfold. But once I got into it, Katie was great, she was talking a mile a minute and joking around she really made me feel at ease", he said.

"Towards the end of it it was grand, conversation was flowing, there was never any awkward silences. They kind of made it look like that but once you get to know me, once I'm comfortable with people I'm not that shy."

Katie agreed wholeheartedly, saying: "I think he came across very shy on the show but I've gotten to know him a lot more since then and I can say he's not really like that."

The likeable pair have gone on a few dates since then, but despite hitting it off, they're not making it official by saying they're a couple.

Katie explained: "We've seen each other a good bit and we've kept in contact loads, we probably talk every other day. But I have plans to go travelling so…I'm actually leaving in three weeks, I'm heading to Toronto. The plan is a year at the moment so let's see how it goes."

And will they keep up their budding romance? "I don't think I'll delete his number or anything like that", Katie joked. Well, how romantic.

Ciaran added: "We're going to keep in touch! She can do whatever she likes! We're going to keep in touch and I'm happy enough with that."

Elsewhere, the cheesy one-liners, cringey flirtation and awkward silences continued last night on First Dates.

Danny-from-The Script lookalike Gareth was unleashed upon the nation but his night quickly hit a bum note when he failed to repay Rebecca a compliment. Where is Graham Norton's infamous red chair when you need it?

We've a feeling the the self-confessed "part-time dad" was hiding behind a cushion when watching back on his performance.

And what's with all the eggs? Twenty a day - you wouldn't want to caught in a lift with him. Despite all that, the pair hit it off famously and cupid's arrow got them a second date.

Meanwhile, straight-talking Brian went OTT with the compliments and his date Sarah initially looked ready to run for the hills.

Before meeting her, he confided to viewers, “Even if she fancies you back, she’ll be like ‘This lad’s a needy whatever.’ That wouldn’t be how I’d get something I wanted,” he said.

Despite some very cringey exchanges - including Sarah stealing wine from the next table for god's sake - the pair seemed to hit it off and have promised to meet up again. There really is someone for everyone.
