Two-time Eurovision Song Contest winner Brendan Graham has written a new song to mark the 90th birthday of Britain's Queen Elizabeth. The song has been recorded by classical crossover star Katherine Jenkins.
This Mother’s Heart was written by Graham, who won the Eurovision Song Contest twice - first with Charlie McGettigan with their song Rock 'n' Roll Kids in 1994 and also in 1996 with The Voice, which was performed by Eimear Quinn in 1996.
A Mother's Heart will be performed at the official birthday celebrations for the Queen this June.
Graham, who also had massive success with You Raise Me Up, which was covered by Westlife, was invited to write the lyrics for the tribute song by Jenkins and her producer Jon Cohen.
This Mother’s Heart is also the first single from Jenkins' new latest album.
You Raise Me Up was performed by Westlife for the special concert in Dublin's Convention Centre during the Queen Elizabeth's visit to Ireland in 2011.
Speaking to Hot Press magazine, Graham said: "For me the Queen's State visit to Ireland, the obvious rapport between herself and our then President, Mary McAleese, and her sensitivity and warmth, were a measure of the woman, inspiring a hopefulness for the future."
“So, in this new era of rapprochement between our two countries. It was an honour for me as an Irish songwriter to be approached to write this song to celebrate her Queen Elizabeth's 90th Birthday - all the more so in this centenary commemorative year of 1916."
