Singer Rita Ora has left The X Factor after appearing for just one season in which she mentored Louisa Johnson to victory.

Ora, who joined The X Factor as a judge after coaching on BBC's The Voice UK, tweeted on Tuesday that she had "a ball" on the ITV show.

Her departure follows the exits of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw. Show boss Simon Cowell is now the only judge remaining from the 2015 line-up. Presenters Caroline Flack and Olly Murs will not be returning for the new season, with Dermot O'Leary back as host after a year away from the series.

A show source told British newspaper The Mirror: "Rita will not be taking part in the show. 2016 is going to be all about her music and her career and that doesn't leave enough time for The X Factor and new talent.

"It means the judging panel will really be shaken up this year, but after last year's ratings that might be no bad thing."

Ora is reprising her role as Mia Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades FreedFifty Shades Darker is due for release on February 10, 2017 with Fifty Shades Freed following on February 9, 2018.

An X Factor spokesman said: "Rita brought a great energy to the show last year and did a brilliant job mentoring the 'girls' category, leading Louisa to victory. We wish her all the best with her music and film plans for the rest of the year."
