Sharon Horgan aiming for Catastrophe success at BAFTAs

Irish comedian and actress Sharon Horgan is aiming for success in tonight's British Academy Television Awards for her role in Channel 4 comedy Catastrophe.

She has been nominated for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme and is up against Sian Gibson and Michaela Coel for Chewing Gum, and Miranda Hart for Miranda.

The star-studded event is being staged at the Royal Festival Hall in London and is on BBC One tonight from 8pm. The show is hosted by Graham Norton, who is also up for an award for his hugely popular BBC chat show.

The acclaimed BBC period drama Wolf Hall has four nominations, including Oscar winner Mark Rylance who's up for Leading Actor, Drama Series and Leading Actress and Supporting Actor for Claire Foy and Adrian Lester.

This Is England 90 ties with Peter Kay's Car Share with three nominations, with the Shane Meadows drama up for Mini-Series, Leading Actor for Stephen Graham and Supporting Actress for Chanel Cresswell.

Peter Kay's show is up for both Female and Male Performance in a Comedy Programme for Sian Gibson and Kay, who gets his first nod since 2003, as well as Scripted Comedy.
