Sharon Osbourne is still in talks to judge on The X Factor despite schedule clashes with her gig on US chat show The Talk.

Reports had suggested that the 63-year-old's return to Simon Cowell's ITV talent show would prove "impossible" but her publicist has said that Osbourne's US schedule is not insurmountable.

"She did it before," the rep explained. "She's trying to work out a possible deal."

The Talk goes out Monday to Friday on CBS and Osbourne will continue to co-host it alongside fellow panellists including Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert.

One half of the old line up could be returning

Meanwhile in the UK, Osbourne and fellow former X Factor judge Louis Walsh have been in talks with Cowell to reprise their roles following the confirmed departure of Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

Walsh recently hinted on The Late Late Show that he and Osbourne would be back. "Grimmy didn't work, let's be honest." Walsh said in reference to new X Factor host Nick Grimshaw.

"I think they want the fun back and I think Sharon and I bring a bit of fun. You see, she's not afraid of Simon".

"I might be [returning] and I should be and I probably will be. I haven't signed my contract. I'm going to, when I get it, but I haven't got it yet."
