Alex Fegan's film Older Than Ireland has been released in the US and the likes of the New York Times have been singing its praises.

The landmark documentary, which looks at 100 years of life as seen through 30 Irish centenarians, is showing that the Emerald Isle's oldest citizens are not just inspiring to Irish audiences but to people across the Atlantic.

In its review, The New York Times states: "It's often said that the Irish, blessed with the gift of gab, can be splendid raconteurs. You'll find generous evidence to that effect here. And a bit of poetry as well."

Meanwhile in Boston, where the film was released on April 22 and is still playing at Kendall Square Cinema, it has already proved to be a box office hit as well as earning favourable reviews.

The Boston Globe observed that "these Irish eyes have seen it all", The Boston Herald declared, "Older Than Ireland deserved attention", while the Film Journal called the documentary "a moving portrayal of living at the outer edge of mortality - the subjects are Irish, but the subject is life itself."

Having already played in various Canadian cities for almost six weeks, Older Than Ireland, will be released in many more US cities over the coming weeks including Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Albany, Washington DC.
