Imelda May has revealed Bono gave her some wise words about how her new 'break up' album could be a "game changer".
The 41-year-old Dubliner, who is currently in the studio after splitting with husband Darrel Higham, revealed that the U2 frontman has been a "mentor" on the T-Bone Burnett-produced album.
"The album is about my life and what I've experienced recently," she told the Irish Sun.
"The songs are more honest than anything before. I've gone through friendship, divorce, falling in love again, falling out of love again. I've had a rollercoaster year and I am still in the middle of it."

"He (Bono) told me, 'If you get this record right it will be a game changer' and that became a song, Game Changer.
"Bono has been like a mentor with this record. So he's been hounding T-Bone about me," May added. Burnett's other credits include albums by Elvis Costello, BB King, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?.

May and Higham announced they were splitting in July of last year and the guitarist, who was the singer's longtime collaborator, quit her band shortly after.
In a statement posted to her Facebook page at the time, May said they were "very sad but happy we're making the right decision".
"Ok so here it goes... My husband Darrel and I have split up," she wrote. "As you can imagine we are very sad but happy we're making the right decision for us and our daughter who is doing really well by the way.
"No matter what you hear and read my husband and I have the deepest love and respect for each other and are doing well."

She concluded: "We are lucky to both have such amazing family and friends. As you know I hate to air my laundry in public and never do but thought I should put something on here to dispel any bad rumours. I wish you and yours much love. God bless. Imelda X."
May and Higham welcomed their daughter, Violet, in August 2012, having walked down the aisle in 2002.
