Beyonce drops new visual album Lemonade

Beyonce dropped her visual album Lemonade with a HBO world premiere event on Saturday (April 23), sending fans into a tizzy.

The Crazy In Love star released her sixth solo album on HBO, taking the form of a succession of music videos linked by poetry by Warsan Shire.

At the end of the hour-long broadcast which began at 9pm EST, the album was available to stream on Tidal, backed by Beyonce's husband Jay-Z.

Lemonade features collaborations with The Weeknd, Jack White, Kendrick Lamar and James Blake.

This is Beyonce's second visual album after she famously shocked fans by releasing her self-titled album on iTunes in 2013 with no warning.

Reaction to the new record has been hugely positive, with fans praising the electic music styles on the album, which sees her delve into rock, country and jazz, along with the strong feminist and political messages.

The theme of infidelity is prevalent throughout the album, with the opening track Pray You Catch Me focusing on a betrayed lover, while in the video a grinning Beyonce struts through the streets of New Orleans smashing up cars.

On the track Don't Hurt Yourself, which features White Stripes star Jack White, she sings "this is your final warning, you know I give you life", then warns that if her husband's infidelity does not end "you're gonna lose your wife."

Some snippets of the new music are available on Twitter.
