RTÉ presenter and Today FM producer Mairead Ronan (nee Farrell) is expecting her first child with her husband Louis Ronan.

The 35-year-old TV and radio personality is already mum to nine-year-old Dara from a previous relationship.

Mairead, who appeared on RTÉ's Big Week on the Farm on Tuesday night and who has also hosted Ireland's Fittest Family, revealed the news on The Ian Dempsey Show this morning.

When asked in October if she was hoping to expand her family, the presenter said: "It would be a lovely surprise if it happens, but if it doesn't happen for us, we have an amazing little package in Dara already."

"It would be the bonus ball in the lottery, as I'm a very lucky girl. I'm very much in love, I feel healthy, and I have a great husband, little boy and job. As box ticking goes, I'm ticking quite a few and am pinching myself as I do so."

Mairead, who first met businessman Louis through Ray D'Arcy's wife and her former colleague Jenny Kelly, revealed it was Facebook that helped to get their relationship off to a good start.

"We got chatting and Louis was lovely, but I didn't think anything more of it," she explained. "Then we kept bumping into each other, and he sent me a lovely Facebook message.

"He asked me out, and for a long time, we just met for coffee and dinner. After a year with Louis, I knew he was really special and I wanted to get married again. He's a complete old-school gentleman, very handsome and kind, and he healed my heart."

Here's Mairead taking part in the 'Pull the Udder One' challenge on Big Week on the Farm.
