Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson was left "charred and bleeding" after what he called the "most dangerous stunt I've ever attempted" during filming for his new Amazon Prime motoring show.

Clarkson tweeted a picture of his blackened and bloodied face and quipped "I survived the day. Just," after he emerged from filming in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

Clarkson's tweet was posted on April 1 but the picture looks pretty convincing.

Meanwhile, there has been a mixed reaction to the first promo clip for the new Chris Evans-helmed Top Gear, which is due to start, after delays, on the BBC this May.

The minute-long trailer features all the usual flashy car montages, cross-country adventures and race track footage synonymous with the motoring show, but more importantly, we get the first look at hosts Matt LeBlanc and Evans in action.

While some fans are excited by the prospect of the show being given a new lease of life following the departure of Clarkson, and co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May, others are less than impressed.
