Lady Gaga has confirmed that she will be returning to the cast of American Horror Story for its upcoming sixth season.

During an interview on Friday with New York-based radio station Z100, she answered "yes" when asked if she is returning to FX's anthology thriller, and added: "I can’t promise you how or when or anything like that."

The singer-actress picked up a Golden Globe for her role as The Countess in the series’ Hotel-themed fifth season. Over last summer, even before Hotel had premiered, AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed that he had invited Gaga back for more gore.

Little is known about the premise of the sixth season, although at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in January FX boss John Landgraf said that the new chapter would be "set in the present" with "echoes of the past" mixed in.

"It's set in two time periods," he added, "but principally in the present."

American Horror Story season six is expected late 2016/early 2017.
