Following their bust-up on last Sunday's episode of The Voice of Ireland on RTÉ One, coach Úna Foden has said viewers will see her exact her revenge on rival coach Bressie in an upcoming episode.

In Sunday's Battles episode, Foden paired singers Mags White and Nigel Connell for a duet on John Newman's Love Me Again, ultimately choosing Connell to go through to the live shows.

After the performance, Bressie said: "It suited you more, Nigel, in your register. Not massively fair to give a song to someone which is out of their range."

Foden took issue with his comments, describing them as "a massive swipe to me". "You are basically saying I was unfair to her; I will hold a bit of a grudge now," she promised.

Speaking on RTÉ 2fm's Breakfast Republic on Tuesday, Foden said "the real feisty side of me" was seen on Sunday's show.

"As a coach, I believe I chose a great song for both of them to showcase how great they both were and it was up to them then on the night to do the battle and battle it out," she said. "I just got really annoyed with him and couldn't let it go."

As for her revenge, she said: "I think it's maybe this week or next week's show you'll see that. In my eyes he chose quite an unfair song and I had another swipe at him."

Foden said that while the coaches chat backstage, once they sit in the red chairs the mood changes.

"When the show is on and you're in that chair and you're so proud of your team... If anyone even criticises them one bit you take it real personally," she said.

Foden added that both her singers had loved the Newman song. "There are times where you do choose a song and you try it a few times and they just hate it," she explained.

"You just then have to go back to the drawing board and find another song. Whereas in that instance they loved it so it was definitely... No question about it being unfair."
