Stag, 9.00pm, BBC Two

A group of obnoxious friends struggle to survive the stag weekend from hell in the Scottish Highlands, in this brand new three-part dark comic thriller. Ian Telford (Jim Howick) is a 34-year-old secondary school teacher from Eastbourne who doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t eat meat, disapproves of blood sports and knows very few people, if any, who went to private school. That’s all about to change when he joins the stag weekend of his brother-in-law ‘Johnners’ (Stephen Campbell Moore) and several of his charmless friends, as they embark on a deer hunting adventure in the remote Scottish Highlands organised by best man, Ledge. However it’s not long before the hunters become the hunted. As the group is brutally eliminated, one ill-equipped, poorly-dressed loud-mouth at a time, their true personalities begin to emerge. Reputations are ruined, friendships are tested, and sordid secrets unearthed as they struggle to survive this stag weekend from hell.

Anvil: The Story of Anvil, 9.00pm, Sky Arts

Canadian heavy metal band Anvil released a profoundly influential album in 1982 which would inspire the likes of Anthrax and Metallica in their endeavours to sound just as good. The band then disappeared unaccountably from view for what would be decades in spent in the relative shade, in bleak terrain. Director and former roadie Sacha Gervasi followed guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner as they took on a tough European tour. The pair reflected on failure, friendship, resilience  in what is a memorable documentary, sliced direct from the metal face. Featuring contributions from Lars Ulrich, the late Lemmy from Motorhead and Slash.
