Elton John has denied reports that his feud with his mother Sheila Farebrother has been patched up.
The rift reportedly began when Farebrother refused to end her friendship with two of John's old friends, after he had fallen out with them.
According to The Mirror, the musician fell out with his mother in 2008, although he reportedly paid for her double hip replacement last January.
The 68-year old singer recently revealed that he sent his mother flowers on her 90th birthday. “It upsets me but to be honest, I don’t miss her," the newspaper reports, quoting the musician.
“When she says things in the press, like last year, ‘I haven’t spoken to Elton since he married that f****** a****** David Furnish’. That was pretty hard to take. I don’t hate my mother. I look after her but I don’t want her in my life.”
Nevertheless, despite the strain, John paid £30,000 for his mother, who lives in West Sussex, to have a double hip replacement in January. “We’re back in touch and have been since mum’s 90th birthday,” he told The Mirror.
The singer has also discussed his fraught relationship with his father Stanley Dwight, who passed away in 1991. “I was afraid of my father," he told Rolling Stone magazine.
"I was walking on eggshells the whole time, trying to get his approval. He’s been dead for a long time and I’m still trying to prove things to him."
