Love/Hate stars Peter Coonan and Aoibhinn McGinnity have begun filming "an uplifting comedic story" called The Drummer & the Goalkeeper in Dublin.
Written and directed by Nick Kelly, the film tells the story of the unlikely friendship between Gabriel (Dermot Murphy - Clean Break, RAW), a 25-year-old drummer with bipolar disorder; and Christopher (newcomer Jacob McCarthy), a 17-year-old with Asperger's Syndrome.
Coonan plays one of the band members while McGinnity plays Alice, Gabriel's sister.
The film is the feature directorial debut of singer-songwriter-turned-filmmaker Kelly.
"Our film tells the story of an unlikely relationship between two very different characters, each with their own very specific issues and challenges," he told TEN.
"I do believe that for many people, the difference between success and failure in life comes down to a single relationship with one other human being - very often a relationship that you would never have sought, nor wished for, nor even dreamed of in advance."
The Drummer & the Goalkeeper will shoot in Dublin for four weeks with legendary music venue Whelan's among the locations.
