Mrs Brown's Boys star Rory Cowan and country music favourite Nathan Carter are among the six celebrities taking part in the new series of The Restaurant on TV3.

In the opening episode next Wednesday, February 10, at 9:00pm, Cowan heads for the kitchen in the show's new home, Marco Pierre White's Courtyard Restaurant in Donnybrook.

White will also be judging the dishes in the new series alongside Restaurant stalwart Tom Doorley.

Along with Cowan and Carter's creations, they will also give their verdicts in the coming weeks on menus assembled by weight loss expert Dr Eva Orsmond, former Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane, model Pippa O'Connor and former Dragons' Den star Seán Gallagher.

Speaking at Wednesday's launch, Pippa O'Connor said: "I would class myself as an okay cook. I enjoy eating food more than I enjoy cooking, to be very honest. You know sometimes when you go into a restaurant and you kind of go, 'I don't actually know anything on that menu'? I have thought about classic dishes that I really like to eat and I've put a fancy twist on them. Good classic dishes never go out of fashion. They're like Chanel: timeless."

"I definitely wouldn't call myself a chef," said Nathan Carter. "Some of the stuff I've picked for my menu on the show wouldn't be your usual top class restaurant food. However in saying in that, I think they're dishes that will appeal to all. I've learned an awful lot - but I'm not going to tell anyone that because they'll expect me to be cooking all the time!"
