The stars come out for the 73rd Annual Golden Globes on RTÉ2; Dr Eva Ormond investigates the price of a sweet tooth on Sugar Crash, RTÉ One; Tracey Ullman returns to BBC; and new sitcom Crashing begins on Channel 4 - here's our top TV for tonight
The 73rd Annual Golden Globes, RTÉ2, 9.00pm
To paraphrase the late, great Colin Welland when Chariots of Fire triumphed at the 1982 Oscars - the Irish are coming. This year's Globes sees several Irish films and actors nominated so let's hope Irish eyes are smiling. And back (yay!) to prick any signs of pomposity (although the Globes are a far more irreverent affair than the self-important Oscars) is host Ricky Gervais. He'll wield the whip as the great and the good of Tinseltown engage in some good old back slapping. See the full list of nominees.
Sugar Crash, RTÉ One, 9.35pm

In this one off documentary Dr.Eva Orsmond investigates Ireland’s consumption of sugar and explores the latest research on serious health problems and their link to excessive sugar use. She finds out how we can cut back on our excessive use of sugar as she charts the progress of a Kilkenny family who are stunned to find out how much sugar is lurking in their ‘normal’ diet.
Tracy Ullman's Show, BBC One, 11.15pm
She's been a dancer, a pop star, an impressionist and a comedian but Tracey Ullman will probably be best remembered as the woman who brought us The Simpsons. The family who put the fun into dysfunctional debuted on her Fox TV show in the US in 1987. That show gone on to become the most successful sitcom of all time but Tracey has not been seen on this side of the pond in nearly 30 years. In this new sketch show, she does an uncanny impersonation of Dame Judi Dench as a kleptomaniac, German chancellor Angela Merkel as a gossipy flirt, and plays Maggie Smith struggling to land acting roles. Ullman also has a pop at the British royal family. The Daily Mail is already fuming so Trace is doing something right.
Crashing, Channel 4, 10.00pm

A brand new six-part comedy that crashes into the lives and loves of six twenty-somethings living together as property guardians in a massive disused hospital. In among the asbestos and abandoned X-ray machines live sexually explosive estate agent Sam (Jonathan Bailey), frustrated French artist Melody (Julie Dray), shy and excitable Fred (Amit Shah), and happily engaged couple Anthony (Damien Molony) and Kate (Louise Ford). It's practically peaceful. That is, until the spontaneous arrival of Lulu (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), Anthony's oldest and least responsible friend.
