The new series of Celebrity Big Brother kicked off on Tuesday night with a record 16 housemates taking part in the reality show, including Irishman Jeremy McConnell - a former Mr Ireland.
The Only Way is Essex's Gemma Collins and EastEnders duo John Partridge and Danniella Westbrook were the first three into the house.
They were soon joined by X Factor finalist Christopher Maloney, US game show contestant Tiffany Pollard and West End star Darren Day, with all making nervous conversation.
There was also some awkwardness as former friends Westbrook and Maloney came face to face.
Next in were Ex on the Beach's Megan McKenna, politician Winston McKenzie, producer David Gest and Geordie Shore's Scotty T.
McKenzie's stay looks set to be a very short one after he made deeply offensive comments about homosexuality in his pre-recorded interview.
Strictly Come Dancing's Kristina Rihanoff said she hoped to be "the mum of the house" and made her entrance in a red sleeveless evening dress, while Keeping up with the Kardashians regular Jonathan Cheban greeted his new housemates by saying: "Everybody looks so good."
Actress and author Angie Bowie, the ex-wife of David Bowie, took a similar ice-breaking approach, describing everyone as "so handsome and beautiful".
Last in were former Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis, onetime Mr Ireland Jeremy McConnell and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Nancy Dell'Olio.
Most of the new arrivals were pre-occupied with finding a way to unlock the crates of alcohol in the house.
In the first challenge of the series, Big Brother asked for two contestants to be locked in a box without any creature comforts. Partridge and Day volunteered and were tasked with deciding which of their fellow constants' suitcases would be locked away. They chose Maloney's, McKenzie's and Westbrook's, as they believed they would cope best without their possessions.
Partridge and Day were later offered the temptation of luxury food while their housemates ate gruel, but they declined, and so the rest of the contestants dined well while the duo went back to basics.
