Sandra Bullock admits she's had a tough time with relationships

Oscar winning actress Sandra Bullock has admitted being unlucky in love in the past but says she doesn't hold any bitterness over previous failed relationships.

In 2009, days after accepting her Oscar for Best Actress for The Blind Side, Bullock discovered that her then husband, Jesse James, was having an affair with a tattoo artist. She found herself a single mother to her three-and-a-half week old son Louis.

“The papers said I was ‘unlucky in love. And yes, I’ve had a couple of missteps but I also did some things I’m not very proud of to people who were wonderful," she recalled this week.

“Revenge, anger, resentment only hurts you and it doesn’t make sense because you’re the one falling apart while they don’t even care. So once you learn forgiveness and to let it go, inevitably you’re shown why that happened and something better steps in every single time.”

Bullock previously dated actors Tate Donovan, Matthew McConaughey, and Ryan Gosling. She also stepped out with American football player Troy Aikman. She's now in a very happy relationship with 49-year old photographer Bryan Randall and they have adopted a three-year-old daughter named Laila.

“I’ve never felt like a victim," says the actress. "I’ve always taken the high road. Always, I learned that from my mother."

While her personal life is back on track, things at the box office haven't exactly been going her way.

Her latest movie, a comedy drama called Our Brand is Crisis about the involvement of American political campaign strategists in the 2002 Bolivian presidential election, was a massive flop when it was released in the United States in the Autumn.

Our Brand is Crisis (15A) hits Irish cinemas on January 22.
