With JJ Abrams gone to a Galaxy Far Far Away for his latest movie (out this week, we think) Fast and Furious director Justin Lin has stepped in and brought his trademark energy to the other big sci-fi franchise, Star Trek.
The trailer for Star Trek Beyond has just landed and as you'd expect its fast paced, brimming with action and humour.
Best of all there's a nice throwback to the first Abrams Star Trek reboot with the Beastie Boys' Sabotage providing the soundtrack to the first teaser for the movie (fans may recall that Kirk was listening to it when he drove his uncle’s red convertible into a quarry).

The good news for Trekkies and those that loved that first movie, it looks like lessons have been learned from its much less loved sequel Star Trek Into Darkness - which lets face just didn't have the same pep as its predecessor- and the emphasis is very much back on fun and action for the next instalment.
Best of all Simon Pegg aka Scotty has taken over writing duties, so there's bound to be humour aplenty. In one scene when Spock and Bones are in a tight spot, Bones jokes that at least he won’t die alone, before Spock is beamed up.
There's also an un-named character played by Sofia Boutella, who's donned the make-up for a very kick ass role.

The Star Trek cast on set
She joins another new character played by Idris Elba, along with recurring cast members Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, John Cho as Sulu and Karl Urban as Bones.
Star Trek Beyond hits Irish cinemas in July 2016.
