Louis Walsh made a surprise appearance on last night's X Factor, in a way we never would have guessed.
The former judge, who has been hinting at a comeback for some time, returned to our screens in the form of a spoof of the latest John Lewis Christmas advert.
The much-loved ad shows an old man living alone on the moon, who makes contact with a little girl on earth through a telescope. On tonight's X Factor, Louis took the place of the old man in a good-humoured reference to him departing from the show.
Tonight's episode saw the elimination of 19-year-old Che Chesterman, leaving Louisa Johnson and Reggie N Bollie to battle it out in tomorrow's final.
The Essex-born performer drew criticism from Simon Cowell for his performance of The Zutons' Valerie, with the famously harsh judge branding him "a bag of nerves".
Chesterman's mentor, Nick Grimshaw, commented: "He's come such a long way, I've been so blessed on my first year that I've got to meet someone like Che and I think he's going to go on to great things."
"Its been an amazing journey," said Chesterman. "Meeting Nick [Grimshaw] has been a highlight. I think we'll stay friends for a long time."
Tonight's X Factor featured performances from stars Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, Craig David and Little Mix, with Adele, Coldplay and One Direction on the bill for tomorrow night.
