Brooklyn Nine-Nine, 8.00pm, RTÉ2

It's the third season of this superb US sitcom about a bunch of cops based in the New York borough of Brooklyn, and starring Andy Samberg as Detective Jake Peralta. Efficiency-obsessed Captain Seth Dozerman (Bill Hader) arrives as the new captain. Jake and Amy explore the repercussions of revealing their feelings at the end of the previous season. Cpt Holt & Gina start work at the PR dept and get forced into trivial matters by Chief Wuntch.

TFI Friday, 8.00pm, Channel 4

The new run of Chris Evans' energetic entertainment show continues, from its new home in central London, with new features, raucous stunts and guests. This week's lineup is pretty impressive, and includes Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, the now former Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, British rock acts Florence & The Machine and Mumford & Sons, and soulful R&B combo Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. So far, so good. It does get the weekend off to a flier.

Pat Shortt's Music from d'Telly, 8.30pm, RTÉ One

It's another opportunity to get a glimpse of rarely-seen footage from the RTÉ archives, built up over the last 50-odd years. This week's selection includes Joan Armatrading, Joe Dolan and Freddie White, who all feature in Pat Shortt’s archive trawl. Fans of country music are particularly well-served this time around as the show also features vintage performances by the likes of Ray Lynam, Dixie Chicks and Emmylou Harris.
