Deep scythe! Aidan Turner not shy about grooming

Irish heart-throb Aidan Turner has said he's not overly precious about his image and admitted he would never sign an acting contract that forbid him to cut his trademark hair.

The actor, who rose to fame in the BBC period drama Poldark, caused hearts to flutter when his character appeared topless, scythe in hand as part of the storyline.

The 32-year-old Dubliner is now known worldwide for his well-honed physique and flowing locks though he told the Radio Times that his trademark look isn't everything.

He told the magazine he wouldn't do 'a Kit Harington', referring to the Game of Thrones actor who played Jon Snow. He was rumoured to have signed a contract saying he couldn't cut his signature hairstyle.

Turner is adamant that he won't be making any such demands saying "I wouldn't sign a contract like that."

The news may not be a shock to fans though who've already learned that his torso was enhanced for the cameras thanks to some baby oil and some "manscaping". Poldark producers apparently had asked him to trim his chest hair in order to become more appealing to the female audience.

It was recently revealed that his ripped abs had almost cost him the role of Captain Ross Poldark in the hit show as he was deemed to be "too muscly",

He spent a gruelling six weeks in the gym and followed a strict diet on the run-up to filming, but the BBC initially believed he looked "too well-built" for having just returned from fighting in the American Revolutionary War.

Aidan can next be seen in a BBC adaptation of Agatha Christie's classic whodunnit And Then There Were None.

"I play Philip Lombard, who's a gun for hire, a mercenary. He's done a lot of nasty things for his own benefit, really immoral, only cares about himself, massive ego, but a smart, confident, charming guy", Turner said.

The second series of Poldark begins on BBC One in April 2016.
